Building Department Update for Residential Inspections

This notice is to inform all contractors of a new procedure that will soon take effect for residential inspections. The following change will be in effect as of November 1, 2021. The frame-all inspection will be replaced with 4 inspections. These inspections are rough mechanical, rough electrical, rough plumbing, and framing. The rough mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspections must all be passed before the framing inspection can be scheduled. These MEP inspections can be scheduled in any order that the contractor prefers. The following codes are to be used for these inspections:

Rough Electric: 3100
Rough Mechanical: 3200
Rough Plumbing: 3300
Framing: 3500

For any existing permits that are issued, if the frame-all inspection has been passed prior to November 1, 2021, this new procedure will not need to be followed. If the frame-all inspection has not been passed by November 1, 2021, the contractor will be required to call in or email our office to have these inspections added to the permit. For any permit packages submitted as of September 20, 2021, these inspections are automatically added.

Please feel free to contact the Building Department by calling 321-953-8924 if you have any questions.

Building Safety Month

Throughout the month of May, our Building Department will participate in the 45th annual Building Safety Month, a worldwide campaign presented by the International Code Council, its members, and partners to promote building safety.

This year’s campaign, “Game On!” encourages people to get involved in all aspects of building safety. The campaign also makes the connection between building codes and personal safety, as well as the important work done by building safety professionals in our communities.

Our code officials work day in and day out to keep the public safe. We come together to support Building Safety Month because we understand the need for safe and sustainable structures where we live, work and play.
