Residents can exchange their cart for a one time fee.

Republic Services provides your solid waste services. This service includes one trash and one recycle cart which are available in 35-gallon, 65-gallon and 95-gallon sizes.

Cart Set Out Instructions
Have the cart at the curb by 5 a.m. on your collection day.
Place the cart at least three (3) feet from other objects like trees, poles, fire hydrants, mailboxes, electrical boxes, cable boxes, etc. and at least three (3) feet away from cars so the automated arm can reach your cart. Also make sure there is a sixteen (16) foot clearance above carts.
- Please have three (3) feet between your recycling and waste carts.
- Don’t lean anything against the cart.
- Don’t place your cart under a tree.
- Place cart one (1) foot from the curb or edge of the street.
- Place the arrows on the lid of the cart toward the street and the handle toward your house with the lid closed.
- Please don’t allow children to play in or around the carts. Republic Services’ trucks use mechanical arms to pick up the waste and recycling carts.

How should the carts be set out?

Also make sure there is a sixteen (16) foot clearance above carts.
How should the yard waste be set out?
All garden and yard trash (fine trash less than two (2) feet in length) shall be separated from all other household refuse and recyclable materials and stored in reusable containers acceptable to the contractor. No plastic or paper bags may be used for garden and yard trash storage/collection and should be containerized for curbside collection.
Trees and shrubbery, stump, tree limbs and other such objects shall be cut in lengths of no greater than four (4) feet if the diameter of the item is less than six (6) inches and shall be cut in length of no greater than two (2) feet if the diameter of the item is greater than six (6) inches.
How do I dispose of my Christmas/Holiday tree?
Please place trees with other yard waste on your scheduled service day. Remove all tinsel and garland before you place the Christmas/Holiday tree to the curb.
Flocked trees must be cut and placed in the trash.
What cart sizes are available?
There are three different cart sizes (35-gallon, 65-gallon, 95-gallon) for both trash and recycling carts. If you need to exchange to a different cart size, please call Republic Services at (321) 989-6030 or toll-free (844) 737-8254 to discuss your cart exchange options.
How do residents turn in extra carts?

Does Republic Services offer “backdoor” wheel-out service?
Republic Services offers a carry-out service to customers who are physically incapable of moving carts or cans to the curb. To request this service, please complete the application for Carry-Out Service or provide a signed note from your physician and fax or mail to Republic Services. The physician's note should state that you are handicapped/disabled, are unable to get your carts to the curb, and that you would like to request back door pickup service.

Who do I contact for billing and account questions?

Why is Republic Services excluding glass from the recycling options?
Please note that glass, while a recyclable material, is not accepted locally and is considered to be a contaminant in single stream recycling due to broken glass contaminating other accepted recyclable materials such as paper and cardboard.
Residents will get just one bill from Palm Bay Utilities for the following services:
- Solid Waste Services
- Water/Sewer Services (if applicable)
Note - Commercial & Multi-Family Residential Properties: Republic Services is responsible for billing commercial properties and other multi-family residential properties (apartment homes, etc.).
Attention: The Utilities Department will be transitioning residents currently on quarterly billing for Republic Services and Stormwater to monthly billing.
- The last quarterly bill will be issued on 04/23/2026, with the first monthly bill to be issued on 07/23/2026.

Republic Services offers unlimited yard waste pickup at the curb.

If pile is too large for pick-up by a standard yard waste truck, the truck will pass and the address will be noted for pick-up by a claw truck. The standard time-frame for claw truck pick-up is 1 to 3 days. Piles left on empty lots that have no service will NOT be picked up.
Grass, loose yard waste, tree trimming or cut-down debris left by commercial landscape services are not picked up by Republic Services. It is the responsibility of the hired commercial landscape services to dispose of this debris.

Brevard County Solid Waste
Brevard County's Solid Waste Management Department operates three permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection Centers where these materials may be delivered. Brevard County residents may take accepted items from non-business activities to one of these collection centers for safe disposal at no cost. Proof of residency may be required.
The items below are considered household hazardous waste and cannot be placed in curbside carts. Thank you for keeping our employees and your community safe.
Hazardous Waste In the Home:
- Aerosol sprays (hair/paint/bug & oven cleaner)

- CFL's
- Drain cleaner
- Electronics (10 large per year)
- Fluorescent lamps (10 each per household per year)
- Health and beauty aids (polish & remover, rubbing alcohol, peroxide)
- Mercury containing devices (thermometers/thermostats)
- Rechargeable batteries (Ni-cad, lithium/button)
Hazardous Waste Around the Home/In the Garage:
- Auto fluids (antifreeze, brake/power steering, motor oil)

All Construction and Demolition Debris Collection and Disposal Businesses operating within the City of Palm Bay are required to apply for and operate under a Non-Exclusive Franchise. The franchise(s) will be granted for a time period of five (5) years. A franchise will be required in addition to any license(s) or Business Tax Receipts which otherwise may be required by law. An application fee in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500) will be required upon submission of the application. Construction and Demolition Debris Collection and Disposal Businesses operating within the City limits of Palm Bay without a Non-Exclusive Franchise will be considered in violation of the City of Palm Bay Code of Ordinances.

2025 Hurricane Debris Notice:
With hurricane season approaching, the City of Palm Bay would like to remind residents of the process for hurricane-related debris pickup.
As a reminder: Do NOT place any bulk or yard waste curbside at least 72 hours before a tropical storm or hurricane.
Depending on the severity of the storm, the City may contract a third-party contractor to carry out bulk clean-up from public roadways.
In the event the City contracts a third-party vendor, that hurricane debris contractor will be responsible for collecting construction and demolition (building or structure) debris, appliances, furniture, and loose vegetative debris on the ground.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CITY OF PALM BAY DOES NOT PICK UP DISASTER DEBRIS FROM PRIVATE HOAs OR SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICTS. THESE AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF PALM BAY SHOULD MAKE THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE STORM FOR DEBRIS REMOVAL.
During this time, Republic Services will still be responsible for collecting carted garbage, carted recycling, and containerized yard waste.
