The City of Palm Bay continues its emergency response to the sewer forcemain break near 1050 Clearmont Street NE. Cathcart Construction Company, the City’s contracted emergency responder, remains actively on site and will continue restoration and remediation efforts through the night.
As of 8:40 PM the leak was contained, with complete repairs to the sewer main anticipated by midnight.
Since 8:45 AM, vacuum trucks have been operating on-site to recover discharged wastewater and will continue running overnight to assist in the cleanup and environmental recovery process.
Residents are still urged to avoid contact with Turkey Creek or surrounding waterways until further notice. This includes no fishing, boating, or swimming. However, there is no impact to the City's drinking water supply, which remains safe and unaffected.
Further updates will be provided as needed. The citizen hotline 321-726-5683 will have the most current information. For media inquiries, please contact the City of Palm Bay Public Information Officer, Christina Born.
