Palm Bay City Council Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month, except for the month of June, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 120 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay.  All meetings are open to the public.

In accordance with section 166.041(4), Florida Statutes, beginning October 1, 2023, counties and municipalities are required to prepare and post on its website a Business Impact Estimate for proposed ordinances, subject to certain exemptions. Business Impact Estimates may be viewed below. In accordance with Florida Statutes a number of ordinances are exempt from complying with this legislation. 

On October 1, 2023, Chapter 2023-309 (Laws of Florida) went into effect. The bill pertains to the passage and challenging of local ordinances. It adds to the process for local governments passing ordinances and gives certain additional rights to those challenging local ordinances. The bill requires counties and cities to produce a “business impact estimate” before passing an ordinance, with exceptions. The estimate must be published on the local government’s website and include certain information such as the proposed ordinance’s purpose, estimated economic impact on businesses, and compliance costs. The statements will be posted on this page. 

Effective October 1, 2024, updated laws will go into effect made during the 2024 State Legislative Session. Senate Bill 1628 was signed by Florida's Governor on May 6, 2024. The bill reduces the exceptions on these matters prior to the local governing body passing an ordinance, etc.
