The City of Palm Bay maintains social media accounts for the purpose of communicating information related to City news, events, services, projects, jobs, and other related items to its citizenry. It is the intent of the City to create a limited public forum for its postings and comments from members of the public relevant to the subject matter of the page.
The City seeks to maintain a civil environment on its social media pages that is civil and appropriate for all members of the community. User-generated content posted to City social media pages will be rejected or removed if in violation of any of the following rules. Repeated violations may result in a temporary or permanent ban from posting.
The following terms of use shall apply to all City of Palm Bay social media pages:
- Comments containing profane, graphic, or explicit content are not permitted, nor are abusive or threatening comments are prohibited.
- No post or comment shall promote, foster, or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, age, religion, gender, marital status, citizenship status, veteran status, status with regard to public assistance, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- Engagement by persons whose profile picture, avatar, username, or corresponding email address containing any of the aforementioned content is prohibited.
- Content must be related to the subject matter of the social media post where it is posted.
- Content that violates a copyright, trademark, or other legal ownership is not allowed.
- Comments may not encourage, solicit, or incite illegal activity.
- Solicitations or advertisements are not allowed.
- No private personal information should be posted, including phone numbers, home addresses, email addresses, or other personal identification information.
- Comments containing information that may compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems is prohibited.
- Spam comments or comments posted by “bots” are prohibited.
- Users shall have no right to privacy on City social media sites. All content generated on City social media pages is subject to public records laws.
- Public records requests may not be made on City social media pages. Please make public records requests to the City Clerk.
- City social media pages are subject to the third-party terms and conditions of their respective social media platforms.
City of Palm Bay social media pages are not monitored around the clock. All information transmitted via City social media platforms is on an “as-is” basis. If you require additional information, please contact the City of Palm Bay.
Do not report emergencies on City of Palm Bay social media pages. For emergency services call 911. For all other service requests and assistance, please contact the appropriate City Department to ensure proper handling.
The City disclaims liability for advertisements, promoted content, or comments accessible from external websites. Any inclusion of comments and contents from external sources on the City’s social media pages does not imply endorsement or agreement on the part of the City of Palm Bay. All posts and comments by the public are the opinion of the original poster only. Users participate at their own risk and take personal responsibility for their comments, content, and any information placed on the page by the user.
