The Property and Evidence Section is responsible for the handling, storage and release of all property and evidence held by the City of Palm Bay Police Department. The Section is responsible for safeguarding the property confiscated by the Palm Bay Police Department and will be kept in secure areas.

Hours Open to Public: Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (excluding Holidays)

•  A photo identification such as a Driver's License or Passport is required for the release of all items.
•  Release of other evidence/property items may require a Court Order or a release card from the impounding officer or his/her supervisor. Call (321) 952-3457 to schedule an appointment to receive your property.

Found Property

Property for which ownership cannot be established may be released to the finder, provided the claimant has signed the Evidence Property Form in the presence of the impounding officer at the time the property is received. Requests will not be approved for a period of 90 days from the date of confiscation. Claimant must contact the Property Room at (321) 952-3457 to set up an appointment if the owner has not recovered the property.

Evidence/Property Requiring Special Handling

Found property money will be deposited if not claimed within 90 days of being submitted. The finder will have 5 days following the 90 day holding time to exercise a claim for the money. It is the finders responsibility to contact Property & Evidence to schedule an appointment for the unclaimed money at (321) 952-3457.

Found property money in which the finder wishes to claim must be advertised for 2 consecutive weeks. The cost of the ad will be deducted from the found money and the difference can be returned to the finder after final 2 weeks of advertisement.

Department employees act as agents for the city and are not considered as the finder. Therefore, no employees are entitled to the return of found property.

Auctions

Are held online at www.propertyroom.com to sell miscellaneous items which have been confiscated and become property of the city.

Bicycles

Received (unless marked for evidence) are held for 90 days after which time they become the property of the city. They are then listed on www.propertyroom.com or turned over to an approved charity.
