As Hurricane Milton makes its way out of our area, please continue to stay informed with post hurricane information and safety warnings.
Stay Off Roadways
Please stay off the roadways as staff assesses damages. When it is safe to travel, please use caution.
Traffic Lights Out
Due to the widespread power outages, there are numerous traffic lights out. There are also downed trees and downed power lines. We urge residents to stay off the roadways until the storm has completely passed our area and it is safe to travel. When it is safe to travel, please use caution and if you encounter a non-operational traffic light, remember:
🚦Flashing red signal lights: Treat like a stop sign
🚦Flashing yellow signal lights: Drivers should proceed with caution (slow down and/or yield)
🚦No signal lights: Treat them a four-way stop sign
Conserve Water
We experienced heavy rains and flooding from Hurricane Milton which can cause power loss and put a strain on wastewater systems. Please conserve water wherever possible and ensure manhole covers remain securely closed until the storm passes and staff can inspect the system.
Limit your water usage during and after the storm to prevent sewage overflows:
• Wait a day or two to do laundry
• Don't run your dishwasher
• Ensure lawn sprinkler systems are off
• Take quick showers
• Keep wet wipes, hygiene products, and "flushable" wipes out of the toilet to prevent backups.
Power Outages
We know there are numerous power outages in our communities. The size and strength of this storm and its winds means downed power lines are inevitable. Please have patience with FPL, they will be working incredibly hard to get power back up and running. Be sure to follow Florida Power & Light on Facebook and download the FPL app and familiarize yourself with the
www.FPL.com/Storm page and know how to report an outage.
