Palm Bay City Manager Suzanne Sherman Credentialed by International Local Government Management Organization

Post Date:11/02/2023

Palm Bay City Manager Suzanne Sherman recently received the Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA, the International City/County Management Association. Ms. Sherman is one of over 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.

ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics and by increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators, and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities around the world. The organization’s 13,000 members in 27 countries also include educators, students, and other local government employees.

To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.

“I am honored to have earned the ICMA Credentialed Manager designation, as it is a reflection of the high level of commitment and dedication that local government managers can make to this profession,” Sherman said. “It is indeed a blessing to serve as Palm Bay’s City Manager, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with our City Council, employees, and the entire Palm Bay community to build a bright future for our City.”

Ms. Sherman boasts a long history with the City of Palm Bay, having been initially hired in January 2006 as a Budget Management Analyst. Ms. Sherman served as Assistant to the City Manager and Acting Deputy City Manager for Palm Bay until 2015, when she was hired as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Satellite Beach. With nearly 20 years of service in local government, Ms. Sherman has served as Palm Bay City Manager since July 2021.

In addition to her extensive experience working in Brevard County, Ms. Sherman is active in several professional organizations, including the Florida City and County Management Association, the Space Coast Public Management Association, and the Florida League of Cities. She also attained her Certified Public Manager designation in 2012.
