The City of Palm Bay and the Palm Bay Recreation Department are hosting a variety of different events this holiday season. The Space Coast Light Festival is coming to Palm Bay this year. The Space Coast Light Festival is a holiday themed drive-through event transforming Fred Poppe Regional Park (1951 Malabar Rd. NW) into a virtual winter wonderland. This is a family-oriented celebration featuring shimmering lights and animated displays which takes place daily from November 25 through January 1. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the event closes at 10 p.m.
The light festival is designed to be enjoyed by driving through in your private vehicle, van, or a bus. Groups can also book private hayrides through the event for a more intimate experience. Stroll Nights will be held December 9 thru 11 and December 30 thru January 1, if you prefer to take a leisurely walk through the light festival. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit spacecoastlightfestival.com.
This past year, Palm Bay planted a live 20-foot Red Cedar tree in front of city hall. On Friday, December 2 starting at 6:30 p.m., the city will kick off the holiday season with an official Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring a performance by the Heritage High School Ambassador Show Choir. Refreshments will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting United Way of Brevard. After the tree lighting, patrons are invited to stay and watch the movie Elf (PG) on a 30-foot outdoor movie screen. Those staying for the movie should bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the show.
The Biggest Holiday Parade on the Space Coast returns to Malabar Road again this year on Saturday, December 3, starting at 6 p.m. The parade will leave the Eastern Florida State College campus and head north on San Filippo Drive. It will then move west on Malabar Road and end at Minton Road, in front of City Hall. Dozens of brightly lit floats, high school marching bands, cheer squads, motorized vehicles, and more will delight the crowd.
On Saturday, December 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. the Palm Bay Recreation Department along with the Palm Bay Police Department will host Breakfast with Santa at the Ted Whitlock Community Center (370 Championship Cir.
