The City of Palm Bay Hosts Second Comprehensive Plan Workshop August 24

Post Date:08/17/2021 11:28 AM
PALM BAY, FLORIDA - The City of Palm Bay is seeking public input as it reviews and updates its comprehensive plan. The comprehensive plan, known as Palm Bay 2040 Vision, is a long-range plan that helps guide the City’s future actions through clearly stated goals, objectives, and policies. These policies inform local decision making and set the tone for future growth and development to ensure a high quality of life and a resilient community for future generations.

The City of Palm Bay is undergoing a period of rapid change – the City’s population is growing, new developments are sprouting throughout the community, and local employment opportunities are continuing to diversify. With new opportunities for growth appearing every day, the potential for the City of Palm Bay’s future is limitless. That is why the City is seeking ideas, perspectives, and expertise from the public to help determine what Palm Bay should look like in the year 2040.

The visioning process will be done through a series of public workshops to engage the community and gather input on the comprehensive plan. The meetings will be conducted in person, with an option for online participation. To learn how to participate digitally, visit the Palm Bay 2040 Vision website at www.palmbayflorida.org/vision. Residents and stakeholders are also invited to make their voices heard by participating in surveys, submitting to the idea wall, voting, and engaging in online exercises on the website.

On June 29th, the City completed the first public workshop that focused on outlining the existing conditions and exploring issues revealed during the initial discussions with community stakeholders. The public was encouraged to participate in exercises that focused on existing issues and current trends impacting the City.

The second public workshop entitled “Where do we want to go?” will be held on August 24, 2021, at 6:00pm in Palm Bay City Council Chambers. This workshop will utilize the public input from the previous workshop to present specific concepts and ideas. During the workshop, participants will be asked to provide their feedback and preferences related to the different concepts. For example, if lack of employment opportunities is an issue that arises, participants may be asked to provide their preferred location within the City for employment center land uses. For those unable to attend the in-person meeting, the workshop will also be available online, and residents will have the opportunity to interact virtually. Individuals interested in attending virtually may log in here at 6:00pm.

There will be a comprehensive plan visioning workshop with the Palm Bay City Council on October 19th and a third public workshop, scheduled for November 8th, both at 6:00pm.
