The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County (FDOH-Brevard), in conjunction with Brevard County Emergency Management, will expand hours for its COVID-19 vaccination efforts to provide no-appointment-necessary vaccinations at a drive-through site at 2555 Judge Fran Jamieson Way in Viera beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 15.
To better serve Brevard County residents, the expanded hours will continue from 4-7 p.m. through Tuesday, April 20. No appointment necessary vaccinations will also be provided at the same location this Saturday and Sunday (April 17-18) from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Only first doses of the two-shot Moderna vaccine will be provided during these expanded hours. No appointments will be needed on weekdays between 4-7 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The no-appointment-necessary expanded hours are drive-through only.
The state increased the county’s allotment of the vaccine to 8,600 doses to address a backlog on the state COVID-19 vaccination registry. That prompted an operational change that includes expanded hours for no-appointment-necessary vaccinations. Recent allotments from the state have ranged from 3,500 doses to 4,700 doses of the Moderna vaccine. With the increased allotment, FDOH-Brevard is targeting 650 shots per day for the 4-7 p.m. time slots, and 3,000 doses per day for Saturday and Sunday operations.
The expanded hours are in addition to the first and second doses scheduled during normal 8:15 a.m.-4 p.m. operating hours. If you have an appointment or are called for an appointment, please arrive at your scheduled time.
