Each year, KBB partners with multiple municipalities throughout Brevard County to host Trash Bash in support of The Great American Cleanup. Commonly, each city hosts multiple cleanup locations throughout their city in one day. This year’s cleanup will be a little different due to safety concerns in regards to COVID-19. Instead, volunteers will be able to kick off Earth Month with virtual individual, family, or small groups (less than ten people) cleanups on April 3rd and 4th in the participating municipalities. Like in previous years, the cities that participate in this event will be competing to win the title of:
- The city with the most trash collected
- The city with the most volunteers
The cities that win these titles will be presented with $500.00 to donate to a charity of their choosing. Winners will be announced the following weekend.
What is a virtual cleanup?
Virtual cleanups allow our volunteers to register, check-in, and submit data through the KBB app. For a city to receive credit for cleanups, the participants must select the Trash Bash Initiative in the app!
For volunteers who need to borrow supplies, KBB will provide gloves and bags, as well as buckets and pickers (on a first-come, first-serve basis) to help facilitate a productive cleanup event. Supply pickup will only be available by appointment via the scheduling calendar. KBB office is located at 1620 Adamson Rd, Cocoa, FL 32926.
