The City of Palm Bay Police Department has a long-standing commitment to the reduction of crime and the implementation of crime and drug prevention initiatives throughout the county. Use of LETF Funds requires approval from the City Council in accordance with FSS 932.7055, upon request by the Chief of Police. The Statute requires that a portion of the revenues be donated or expended for the support or operation of drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention, crime prevention, safe neighborhood or school resource officer programs in accordance with FSS 932.7055.

Who is eligible to apply for an LETF grant?

Nonprofit organizations in good standing with an active 501(C)(3), Florida Division of Corporations Certificate, IRS W-9 form, and are not on the convicted vendor list on Sam.gov are eligible to apply. The organization must serve residents of Palm Bay.

LETF funding is allocated fairly to a variety of programs in Palm Bay to address gaps in service needs. Organization recipients have included entities such as schools, community-based non-profits and foundations, and youth programs.

How does an organization apply for LETF funding?

The PBPD accepts applications via our online portal you can access via this page. The application window will be from February 1- March 1^st each year. All awards during the upcoming fiscal year beginning October 1^st, with awards being contingent on approval by the City Commission. Applicants must ensure applications are submitted per instruction guidelines to include completing all required fields, submitting the required attachments, and submitting the required certifications and acknowledgements. Applications that fail to meet the minimum submission criteria may result in the application being denied.
