Onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems (OSTDS), or septic systems, in Florida are regulated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). If you have a question or concern about your septic system, please contact the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County directly by calling (321) 633-2100 or emailing Brevard.EHS@flhealth.gov. Should you need assistance with the installation, repair, or maintenance of your septic system, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has provided links to online searchable databases of installers and local septic system service providers so that you can find a professional in your area:
- National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association's (NOWRA) Septic Locator
- National Association of Wastewater Technicians
Additionally, the EPA, FDEP, and NOWRA have created informational resources on how to care for your septic system at home:
- How to Care for Your Septic System (EPA)
- Frequent Questions on Septic Systems (EPA)
- 2020 Septic System Owner's Guide (FDEP)
- Caring For Your Septic System Fact Sheet (FDEP)
- Homeowner's Onsite System Guide and Record Keeping Folder (NOWRA)
If you are interested in converting from septic to sewer, you can find the Palm Bay Utilities Department's Septic to Sewer program here.
